Flexible and Funny

Babies are so flexible. Wonder when we lose this ability? Anne loves to have her feet right by her head and is constantly sucking on her big toe. It can be a little disconcerting to look in the crib and it looks like she has 4 arms and no legs. But hey, if it makes her happy . . .

Oh, she can also talk to the dolphins. Amazing for such a young girl. She is quite the high pitched squealer, lately. Perhaps she is just trying to get some attention, poor child.

My story about MK has nothing to do with this photo, just thought it was cute. After school today, I was making her a PB and J and she was truly relentless. I was in the kitchen and she was in the adjoing family room. 3 times I hear have you made my sandwich yet (in a two minute time period). I say no honey I am just putting a few things away. She says well you just have to take out the bread and spread the peanut butter and jelly (thanks for the tip). I say yes just watch Oswald (a cartoon) for a minute and I will tell you when it is ready. Then she she hears me open the fridge and says is the peanut butter on, how about the jelly?

Anyway, I finally (poor thing had to wait 6 minutes) call her in for lunch and she climbs up to her stool and says, OOOoooh what shapes did you make? I love these triangles, mommy. From relentless to cute in .2 seconds. How funny!

Blessings

Sometimes parenting feels like the hardest, worst job out there, but I know even on the tough days that God has blessed my life abundantly. Not only with these 2 cutie pies but with a terrific family and awesome friends. I am truly blessed and for that, Lord I am so grateful.

Happy Birthday Grammy!!!

Grammy, you are so special to each and everyone of us! A true blessing as a wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend! God bless you!

Are you kidding me part 2?

Well I just finished my last post and you know who had somethings to tell me. "Mommy, can we have another baby?" No honey, I don't think so. "Well if God says it is time" Yes, honey if God says it is time. " Well I think that God said it is time, when need to go another baby right now."

I have often heard of older children being jealous of new babies. Not mine. I think that she thinks of them more as soldiers in her army - General MK - yikes!

Are you kidding me?

I am not feeling like too good of a Mommy. I will admit I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and am feeling a little grumpy, but you know those days when you just want to get somethings accomplished and your almost 3 year old has other plans . . . Well after 50 million questions before 9am MK says mommy again and I say What? with obvious frustration in my voice - her reply "why do you say it like that, can't you please be nice." WHAT? Was I just reprimanded by my preschooler for my tone of voice - are you kidding me. But she got her point across and I am trying to be a much more pleasant mommy . . . She really is trying to raise me the right way!

Catching up

Well I have finally posted a few things from the last couple of weeks. But I am not really caught up since I don't have any pictures from our in prompt to Labor Day festivities, Fordham's awesome pool party, or the great pony rides at Ashley's party. Oh well, I can just make do with what we have and we will have to use our imagination (or other's blogs) for the rest!

Mystery illness

This is not a pretty picture. And we don't know what caused this swelling. But she is fine now. Ahh, another motherhood mystery.

No sea legs

We decided to take MK on a boat ride the other weekend. It had been about year since she had been on the boat and she didn't love it as much as we hoped. She liked going slow, though. We will try again and before long she will have her sea legs and be a great first mate, I am sure!

Rainy Days

With Ernesto and the other rain storms a couple weeks ago we had to find fun ways to keep busy!

Charles Towne Landing

We had a picnic today at Charles Towne Landing, which has just
reopened after millions of dollars worth of renovations. It looks
great. And is defintely a great place to spend the afternoon.

Blackmail

Why do we parents feel obligated to take pictures of our children that they will hate us for later?

She's a big kid now!

Well after many trials and tribulations, I think MK is done with diapers. A little over a week ago she aked to use the potty (after I had given up on our most recent attempt). And ever since she has been great, even waking up dry and going potty at school. Today, she got her last sticker on her chart so that she can have the Little People House. Way to go, We love you!
You must know it pains me to post such a picture, but what a multi-tasker!

A Glimpse

I love little glimpses into the mind of a child, how they put they things together. It is really all so amazing. We were at the light on 17 facing Ye Old Fashioned today and MK says " I have an idea, let's go to the ice cream bakery." So young for such a cute oxymoron.

First Day

Well, here is my first "real" post. Mary Kathryn and her Dad on her first day of school at the Little School. She did great! She did not shed a tear when her teacher took her out of the car this morning (I know this blessing was in large part due to the prayers of a special friend who saw us on our way and was praying at just the right moment!). And when I picked her up she was all smiles. So we headed off to "Donald Ducks" for a celebratory chicken and french fries.

Anne's Baptism
August 20, 2006. What a special day this was. Thank you to family, friends and especially godparents for making this event a true blessing. Anne is one lucky girl!

Reluctant Blogger

Ok, I have succome to peer pressure. I fear that I will become addicted and my house will fall into more disarray, but we will see.
