What's wrong with this picture?

How did my baby grow up so fast. She looked so grown up today, I couldn't stand it. Actually she looked a lot like Cindy Brady, who oddly enough is who I modeled my imaginary friend after when I was child. Hmm, too much info for the blog I suppose :).

The Ballet Recital

Monday was Mary Kathryn's ballet recital and it was pretty cute. Watching all the different children, some who do their own thing and others like MK who watch the teacher like a hawk and try and do everything just right. She wants to please so much, it is really sweet. Well of course we were very proud of her. She did a great job and really loves it, what more could a mommy want? What a girl!

Even the adults had fun!

Festival of Lights Walk

This was our first year doing this and I hope we can do it again. We had so much fun! Walking with our friends through the lights was a treat, even in the cold weather. Mary Kathryn still talks about her part - running up to the lights with her friends and touching them - which the mommies quickly put a stop to. Thanks everyone for a fun time!

Disney Princesses on Ice

Mary Kathryn's big present was a trip to the Disney Princess Ice Show and since it was on the day after her birthday we splurges and got front row tickets on the ice. It was an amazing show, and she LOVED it. Her wide-eyed amazement was truly priceless. We really did have the best seats in the house and she got to shake the performers hands at the end as they skated by. It was a special birthday treat for MK and mom and dad, too!

Four years and 18 months

Obviously I have some blog catching up to do and I have been meaning to post about my two wonderful girls at the wonderful ages they are.

Mary Kathryn - you are a dear, kind child. You are considerate others, even your little sister. You love to play school all the time, through out the day -"okay boys and girls it is time for Bath Class now." And I am often referred to as "teacher who is my Mommy". You are a great student and are doing so well with your letters. You LOVE to color and do any kind of artwork, and I think that you have already surpassed my level of talent. You also love to sing, dance and perform. You love your family and friends and always want to to know you will be seeing and when. You have a real zeal for life that is infectious. Your dad and I are so proud of you and love you so much.

Anne - Annie-boo. You have changed so much in the past year and already have so much personality. You are talking up a storm already putting sentences together. You are very determined trying to keep up with your big sister in every way. You are sweet and funny and we love watching you learn. You love playing with your big sister and don't let her boss you around. Your smile melts my heart. You are so much fun to be with and such a blessing to all of us. You seem to really like books and are always asking people to "readie, readie". You also like to dance and sing and perform - never a dull moment here! We are so proud of the person you are becoming and we love you so much!

Rainy Days and Birthdays

It poured rain on Mary Kathryn's 4th Birthday, and her party was planned for James Island County Park. The weather called for rain all week so we decided to just go ahead with it. Fortunately near the playground at the park is a screened porch picnic area and that is where we set up the princess party. Setting up was a mess. It started to dump rain as I was in the middle of hauling everything from the car and there was thunder and lightening. I think that it must have struck in the park it was so loud. Pour Anne was terrified and as I was busy setting up she was left with Oma to comfort her and pour Oma is not too fond of storms herself! But so many of Mary Kathryn's wonderful friends braved the weather and came out anyway. And Mary Kathryn's mom was happy to look like a drowned rat to see her smile. The birthday girl was very happy and that is what counts! I didn't have many pictures because it was a little chaotic but we had pumpkin decorating, lunch, cake and ice cream, a princess pinata and bubbles.

A Star is born

Mary Kathryn is in the Cherub Choir at St. Philip's and loves it. I was worried about
how she would do when they sang in front of the church for the first time,
but she loved it. She sings all the time at home, even making up her own songs. After their
first performance, she said to me, Mommy I love you even more than I love singing at church!
I am sure it helps that DuBose is in choir with her and it was a special treat that Bess had spent the
night with us and got to see her sing!
